| Does God like me? |

Most people believe in God in some way—it's almost universal, but what we really want to know is, "If God exists, does He like me?" 1 John 4:10 says God loves you even before you love Him. ![]() He sent His Son Jesus to take away your sins. He didn't send Jesus to meet you halfway after you changed yourself and made yourself a semi-good person on your own. This approach of trying to change ourselves first so we can know God is mere human religion. It is not God's plan. His plan is based on the fact that He likes you and loves you right now, just the way you are.
We might wonder, "Why would God like me? I’m a bad person" or maybe we think we have made so many mistakes, He only wants to know super good people, people who I will never be like. This is a common, really natural reaction, but it is completely wrong!
Because God made you, He loves you. He likes you just the way you are. You are pleasing to Him. He likes the way your voice sounds and likes the way you think. He is entertained by you. Yes, He knows you are not perfect, but being perfect is not what makes Him love you. He loves you because you are what He wanted when He made you. Many people who believe there is no God don't want God to exist. Maybe because they think that if God did exist, He wouldn't like them. That makes sense. Why would we want someone else to tell us we are not good enough. But this is human fear, and truth is something better and entirely different from our fears. God doesn't just love you because He's God and He has to love everyone. He likes you, for who you are right now, even before you are able to change. In fact, the best way to change is to know Him first and let Him help you do the things you know you were made to do. He wants to help you express yourself and improve your life.
